Until We Are Free
“Until We are Free” is a story book and companion curriculum that links stories about different forms of human trafficking on the continent of Africa, within national borders (domestically), across regional borders (transnationally) and internationally, with proactive rights-based education that addresses root causes and advocacy. In these 11 stories, the reader finds youth protagonists just like them and their classmates.
A recurrent theme in “Until We Are Free” is the reality that some traditional practices are forms of trafficking; we see this in Akuba (Ghana) and Dike’s (South Africa) stories, where the practice of fostering leaves them vulnerable to exploitation and slavery-like conditions. Similarly, in Amunet’s (Egypt) story, the practice of misfar- or temporary marriages- constitutes trafficking.

Legislation Database
We have compiled the texts of legislation on, and related to human trafficking in Africa (arranged in Alphabetical Order by Country). This is an ongoing process and we will be updating this database regularly as we receive texts and updates of legislation. If you do not see a law or its text and you have a copy to share, please contact us with the information. It is crucial to provide access to laws on human trafficking, to help eliminate some of the challenges encountered in providing access to justice for victims.
